Erik Damián Reyes Morales, "Mexico’s foreign policy towards the United States:general aspects to consider in the bilateral relationshipbased on a historical analysis", 2017.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to point out some aspects to consider in the analysis and implementation of Mexico’s foreign policy towards the United States. To do this, it is analyzed one of the historical periods in which the disparity in terms of capabilities between the two nations was particularly huge: that of 1920-1924. On the one hand, after World War I, the United States emerged as a major world power and established its undisputed influence zone in the Americas. On the other hand, after the Revolution of 1910, Mexico was in a reconstruction process and the government faced a period of political and economic instability. Through the study of this historical period, some of the most important aspects to be highlighted in the analysis and implementation of Mexico’s foreign policy towards the United States are pointed out, such as the position of the Mexican government vis-a-vis the United States, the relevance of the internal and international contexts, the capacities of both nations, the variety and contradictions of the interests of the United States towards Mexico as well as the way of seeing and approaching to the negotiations and agreements between both countries.
